Welcome to the Progressive Caucus of the California Democratic Party

Caucus Officer Elections will be held
at our meeting
at the May 15-17 CDP Convention in Anaheim

If you have Progressive drive and are interested in furthering the ideals and goals of the Caucus and its members, please consider running for one of the ten officer positions.  You can see a description of the positions in our bylaws at: “About Us” and then “Bylaws” and look over Article III b.  Please note that the bylaw reference of where to send requests for applications has been updated as per below.

The positions are:

  • Chair
  • Vice Chair North (The counties are listed in the bylaws, Article IIIa.)
  • Vice Chair Central (The counties are listed in the bylaws, Article IIIa.)
  • Vice Chair South (The counties are listed in the bylaws, Article IIIa.)
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Parliamentarian
  • Communications & Media
  • Officer at Large (2)

The (volunteer) officers have regular teleconferences, usually twice a month, and there are generally three Convention/E-Board meetings, an officer retreat, and sometimes a Summit that officers need to be part of planning and attending.  Consider that there is a time and effort commitment and there is an expense and logistics of getting to the 3 to 5 meetings in a year.  The biggest “perk” of being an officer of the Caucus is the satisfaction of seeing your ideas and ideals become part of the Caucus experience.

To apply to run for officer, you must be a registered California Democrat, a current member of the Caucus www.cadem.org/caucusdues (case sensitive) and request an application form all by 30 days (April 15 at 5:00pm) before the May convention.  You may only run for one office.

To request an application please email our Vice-Chair Central, Judy Hess, by (clicking here) or at: Judy@PDAmerica.org if the links don’t work.  Requests sent elsewhere will not be considered.

Make sure the subject line is – [Progressive Caucus Officer Application.]  Please put which office you plan to run for in the body of the request email. You can then print, fill-in, sign, scan and email back the application form and the confidentiality agreement within five days. You can also use FAX or snail-mail (instructions are on the form) to return them, but email is the best way to do it so you don’t miss any deadlines.
