The Labor Caucus and Progressive Caucus
“Organizing in a Post-Janus Landscape”
Friday, July 13th, 6-7:45 PM / Room: East 1 (Level 1)
Marriott Hotel Oakland City Center
1001 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94607
As Progressives and Labor folk alike, we’ve witnessed the dismantling of workers’ rights, women’s reproductive human rights, immigrant rights and human rights. With the Janus v. AFSCME decision coming at the end of stunning and terrible decisions by the Supreme Court – as well as the ill-timed announcement of Justice Kennedy’s retirement, we’re reeling from the scope and scale of assaults upon the people of this land.
The cruelty of Trump’s immigration policies, perpetrated against innocent and vulnerable fellow humans, have shocked the consciousness of decent people everywhere. The need for camaraderie and solidarity at this time is crucial. We need to come together to talk, strengthen our bonds and commit collectively to the fight ahead. We’ve got to plan how we’re going to kick ass for the working class in all kinds of ways! Check out our speakers:
- Larry Cohen, Chair, Our Revolution; Past President, CWA
- Ahjamu Makalani, SEIU local 1000, President, DLC 703; Former Officer CDP Progressive Caucus
- Angie Wei, Chief of Staff, California Labor Federation
- Michelle Vo, Member, Board of Directors, California Nurses Association
In addition to our must-attend program, the Progressive Caucus will also vote to approve a new Northern California Vice-Chair, consider a late resolution, hear an update on the DNC 2nd ballot super delegate proposal, present officer reports and more.
In order to be credentialed to vote, you’ll want to make sure your dues are up to date. You can join on-site or click here. Hardship waivers are accepted on-site.
