H.R. 1546 Caring for Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury Act of 2009
Jerry McNerney introduced HR 1546, the Carrying for Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury Act of 2009 which will establish a special panel within the VA to assess its current capacity to treat veterans with traumatic brain injuries as well as make recommendations on developing policies for care and rehabilitation. It will also help establish TBI-specific eduction programs for the VA’s health professionals. This bill has passed subcommittee.
Please call your representatives and lobby for support of this bill. "our men and women in uniform have put their lives on the line. It is critical that we ensure our veterans receive proper care and treatment for injuries sustained in service to our country", states Congressman McNerney.
Please lobby for this bill to pass.

This is a very valuable bill to support especially with the injuries our military have been receiving in Iraq and now Afghanistan. This bill is looking at our VA hospitals ability to provide long term care for military with brain injuries. It is the injury that has turned them into Veterans.
However, I find it a terrible state of affairs when we have to legislate the care required for our military when they should be cared for by our country without reservation, absorbing all costs, using the most modern facilities, techniques and medicines, for as long as needed to cure them.
